HSE Coordinator

RichardsApex is hiring a HSE Coordinator in Philadelphia, PA.

Job Summary:  RichardsApex is looking to expand their Compliance Department by seeking out an HSE Coordinator.  We are looking for an individual to maintain RICHARDSAPEX INC. environmental and safety programs and compliance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations.  This Position will be accountable for fostering a sense of environmental and safety stewardship with all employees through training and awareness and completing all required Compliance Reporting. 

Job Scope:  The HSE Coordinator reports to the VP of Global Health, Safety, Environment & Quality, and with his/her guidance and approval ensures the company is compliant with any controlling laws and regulations.

Job Responsibilities: 

Primary:

  1. Maintain environmental compliance programs and permits such as storm/ industrial wastewater, hazardous materials and chemical handling programs.
  2. Develop and maintain contemporary and compliant HSE policies, procedures, and other resources (hazard communication, heat stress)
  3. Assist with all permit renewals.
  4. Maintain and monitor Storage Tank certifications.
  5. Maintain environmental and safety procedures and conduct training to ensure compliance with employees and contractors, including plant specific operator training to ensure facility operates within permit limits.
  6. Complete any environmental inspections such as waste and stormwater inspections.
  7. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
  8. Provide support for injury investigations.
  9. Ensure completion of both regulatory and compliance training.
  10. Facilitate the Safety Committee meetings.
  11. Respond to any visits or correspondences from regulatory agencies.
  12. Maintain hazardous materials compliance.
  13. Help managing Philadelphia Office’s ISO 9001:2015 compliance program.

Secondary: 

  1. Advise personnel on proper Hazmat/Class preparations for outbound shipments (DOT, NMFC, IMDG, IATA).
  2. Facilitate Quality Management Meetings in VP’s absence.
  3. Train with VP of Global HSE & Q to understand product compliance, product safety data sheets and how to manage product SDS/labels.
  4. Develop Scope 1 and 2 Emission calculations
  5. Shipping Compliance such as Free Trade Agreement and HS Code maintenance.
  6. Assist VP of Global HSE & Quality as needed.

Job Qualifications: 

  • Education – bachelor’s degree in science or technical field. If degree is not safety, OSHA 30 for General Industry would be desirable.
  • Experience
  • Two years’ experience completing regulatory reports, including Sara 313 Form R, Tier II, Form 26R / Biennial Residual Waste reports and responsibilities under Synthetic Minor operating permits.
  • Two years’ experience with managing safety programs. Understanding of OSHA regulations required.
  • Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in technical writing and public speaking.
  • Analytical skills in assessing program effectiveness and compliance. 
  • Well-developed computer skills using Microsoft software.
  • Strong ability to work independently

Desired:

  1. Familiarity with hazardous materials regulations, industrial wastewater treatment, and preparing environmental permitting.
  2. Familiarity with Chemistry and Chemical Compounds.
  3. Experience with writing safety data sheets.
  4. Experience with ISO systems.
  5. Experience with International Trade and Compliance
  6. GSP or ASP certification
