Requirements

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health or related field from an accredited College or University.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years environmental, health and safety experience. Excellent computer skills with experience in MS Office applications and proven ability to effectively communicate EHS guidelines to multidisciplinary workforce. Capable of all site reporting for EPA, OSHA, regulatory and legal compliance. Skilled at developing training programs, root cause analysis and risk management.
  • Qualifications: Leadership, communication, detailed, strategic thinker, team player. Strong attention to detail and very observant. Excellent communicator. Experience and highly organized, resourceful, and proactive. Have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment; while also being able to work as a team player. The person must be people-oriented, hands on, flexible, an innovative thinker, and they must be highly skilled in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access), Visio, Zoom and SAP experience is a plus. The individual must also be able to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Safety First
    • Observe and follow Health and Safety practices and regulations put in place at all times.
    • Wear and maintain proper PPE as required.
    • Organize, develop and run safety programs and trainings.
    • Maintain safety awareness and identify opportunities to be safer.
    • Communicate all EHS programs and goals to all departments.
  • Quality & Customer Focus
    • Participate and promote company’s Quality Policy and Objectives.
    • Actively seeks opportunities to improve through use of the Corrective Action system.
  • Job Duties
    • Update and maintain all files in the EHS Log.
    • Actively participate in company QMS.
    • Inspect sites daily to identify safety, health, and environmental risks and monitor compliance.
    • Assist Regulatory Affairs Department as needed.
    • Directly responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the company safety program to ensure workplace safety for all employees.
    • Review and update all EHS programs on an annual basis.
    • Conduct and document monthly safety meetings covering OSHA mandated requirements, as well as other EHS topics relevant to our operation.
    • Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring activities.
    • Lead the EHS Committee, including documenting all meeting minutes and action item follow up.
    • Conduct Process Hazard Analysis, Job Hazard Analysis, Fall Protection program, etc.
    • Ensure EHS Inspections are carried out by the safety committee and are documented including corrective Actions for any deficiencies noted.
    • Conduct EHS introduction training for all new hires.
    • Manage all waste handling activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure all regulatory requirements related to air, water and the environment are being met and that all activities are properly documented.
    • Conduct all emergency response and emergency evacuation training and drills.
    • Ensure the timely completion of required regulatory reporting including EPA, DEP and OSHA
    • Regularly conduct evaluations of company processes and procedures to ensure they meet Federal, State and local regulations and are in the best interest of our employees.
    • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are documented for all departments.
    • Coordinate any additional safety training necessary with current & new employees and schedule repeat trainings as needed.
    • Responsible for maintaining a high level of organization and discretion in properly handling and documenting items related to safety policies, procedures, inquiries, incident reporting, investigations and compliance with federal, state and local agencies.
    • Makes recommendations for the purchase of safety equipment including PPE (e.g., safety shoes/boots, glass-es, first-aid supplies, etc.).
    • Assist in the development of a safety video for new employees, visitors and contractors.
    • Ensure SDS training for all new chemicals as well as record keeping
    • Manage contractor control program and update pandemic measures o Perform assigned duties as necessary from time to time.

Frequent physical demands

Include ability to: Sit, Walk, Talk, See, Hear, Stand, Climb (i.e. stairs), Carry objects, Push/Pull, Twist and Bend, Reach forward, Reach overhead, Squat, fine motor skills/activities, Wrist position deviation, read and write in English.

Occasional physical demands

  1. Lifting Floor to Waist: 50 lbs.
  2. Lifting Waist Level and Above: 25 lbs

Notes

  • All candidates will be required to take a physical and drug test prior to hire
  • All new employees will be required to complete the necessary ISO training within 30 days of hire
  • All Lab, Production and Warehouse personnel will be required to obtain annual clearance of Respirator Fit Testing, Pulmonary Function Testing, and an Audiogram
