Emergency Preparedness Leader

Gore is seeking an Emergency Preparedness Leader to join their Enterprise team.  The associate in this role will be required to wear many hats and truly understand each stakeholder’s needs when balancing outcomes. You will work with Enterprise, Divisional, and Functional leaders to assure that Gore is prepared to effectively withstand and respond to emergencies.  This position will be based out of one of our US facilities, which are located in Elkton, Maryland, Phoenix, Arizona, Flagstaff, Arizona, and Santa Clara, California.


  • Driving cross-team partnerships; engaging across functions, divisions, Core Technology and Innovation to develop and implement an aligned vision for emergency preparedness
  • Executing appropriate external collaboration, including identification of best practices and benchmarking internal capabilities
  • Proactively monitoring and assessing global issues (trends, regulations) that may have potential impact to Gore businesses
  • Leading the development of emergency preparedness processes, policies and procedures, in alignment with partner functions (Communications, Facilities, Security)
  • Leading the development of emergency preparedness standards which define the minimum expectations for the Enterprise, to allow key regional/local decisions to be made effectively during an emergency
  • Identifying key opportunities for emergency preparedness initiatives and championing the integration of these into the Enterprise by leveraging business planning & portfolio processes
  • Driving, maintaining and continually improving global functional expertise of Enterprise emergency preparedness capabilities, including alignment with external and internal stakeholder engagement, communications and technical advocacy
  • Actively contributing to the ongoing development and execution of the relevant strategic and operating plan
  • Informing functional leadership of risks and opportunities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Science, Public Administration, Fire Science, or Emergency Management, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years’ professional experience, with at least 5 years in emergency preparedness (i.e., medical, fire, natural disasters, pandemics, chemical spill)
  • Experience in a globally matrixed organization
  • Experience with business planning & portfolio processes
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders at a global and local level
  • Demonstrated ability to broadly influence and align stakeholders with diverse needs
  • Highly tolerant of and able to navigate uncertainty, with a strong ability to pull clarity, simplicity and actionable insights from complexity
  • Demonstrated ability to form a significant personal network across a global organization
  • Willingness to travel 50%

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM®) or equivalent
